Our philosophy for service provision –Residential

Arahura has been involved with supporting people with Mental Health difficulties in Central Auckland for over 35 years.

 Our aim is to improve the quality of life for people experiencing mental health challenges through community based support. 

The Trust is a vehicle to improve the quality of life for people who have been assessed by Mental Health Professionals as needing the services of the Trust We are committed to using researched models of Recovery, the Strengths Model, Wellness Recovery Action Plans and  the facilitation of social inclusion for Arahura service users.

Access to our service is through the relevant clinical services by the Service co-ordinators.

We provide our residential rehabilitation in four well-appointed four bedroom houses in the Mt. Roskill area of Auckland.

The service that Arahura provides is a bridge between hospitalisation and living independently in the community.  It is pivotal for the long term well being of people making this transition that they develop skills and coping strategies to meet the challenges of shifting from a dependent lifestyle, to one in which they have responsibility for managing their lives and illness .Arahura’s residential service have specialised in developing tools for our service users to practice the skills necessary to make a successful recovery into the community
