Nicola's Story
Firstly, I'm thrilled to be working the mental health field, but more specifically for Arahura. Mostly because I can use my life experience of living with a mental illness. This means I am valued for my experience in the same way someone may be valued for their study in their field.
I enjoy talking with the residents and getting to know them whilst acknowledging that everyone is different and unique.
I feel that Arahura is a healthy organization. Communication flows well and I feel like am treated well from by bosses and co-workers alike.
I enjoy rising to the challenge when needed. Sometimes I handle it better than other times.
In finishing I'd like to say that because I am a consumer working for Arahura Trust, it gives me some common ground with the residents which helps build rapport.
